A Quick Note About Some of the Goals for This Blog

This blog is pretty bare right now, but I'm working on getting helpful links added as quickly as I can. To see the kinds of things I hope to have here should a storm hit, you can see the blog I quickly threw together for Gustav. There were some issues with the blog program itself so all updates were being done in the comments section. You can view it here.

My immediate goal with this blog is to address issues related to threats posed by tropical storms/hurricanes approaching the U.S. and how they affect those with pets and livestock and those of us in the rescue community. I want this to be a place where we can post information on evacuating with pets, rescue community needs, resource & volunteer availability, etc., but only in relation to these storms and any others to come.

I'll give brief updates as I can about the status of tropical storms/hurricanes but when I can not you can refer to the links that I hope to get posted within an hour or two.

Again, please see the "quicky" blog I threw together for Gustav to see a sort of rough draft (though w/out the weather, which I left out there since I was on a weather site already lol). There was one post to a group to which I belong that I wish was there. It was one in which I dispelled a nasty rumor that was going around, one that was hyping the storm and made me suspect of the original poster of the message. That would be another goal here, to "keep it real", to the best of my ability, when it comes to weather info and to remind people constantly to be aware of people who try to make money from other people's misery!!!
