If you're looking for something that was here before and isn't now, it's there. If this is your first visit, have a look around on the other blog, too :) Get disaster preparedness info, learn about hurricanes, see storm damage, and much find much more info.

Who Am I?

I am a dog rescuer ... my weekends are never free ... my floors are never clean ... I constantly trip over bones, balls, squeaky toys, raggy bones and other dog paraphernalia ... most birthday cakes here have paw prints and liver flavored filling ... my yard is a mine field, beware where you step ... the windows in my house and car have more nose prints than fingerprints ... my trunk carries more leashes, collars, water bowls, toys, treats and chewies than the local PetsMart ... we have more doggie overnights than we do children’s slumber parties ... most days I wear more of my dogs’ fur than they do ... I have killer fur dust bunnies from outer space living under my furniture ... I'm a sucker for a wet nose and waggin’ tail ... I do believe my life has gone to the dogs!!!!!

My Favorite Animal Rescue Groups

I wear many hats as a rescue volunteer. It can be tough, but it's the most rewarding job I've ever had.

Here are the groups with which I'm most involved. Each image is "clickable" and will open a web page in a new window. You know, just in case you want to volunteer or visit the fund-raising page for one of the rescues (hint, hint).

Volunteers participate in transports driven relay-style.

It's not just for dogs!
The most frequent passengers are dogs & cats, but we've posted transports for guinea pigs, horses, chickens and other birds, pigs, and even snakes! Wanna help?

A rescue group, with members across the U.S., dedicated to rescuing Papillons & Papillon mixes

Responsibly rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing German Shepherds across the Lone Star State

Links to Important Information, Part II

The current plan, which could change at any time, is to the use the left side of the blog to provide helpful links that pertain to areas that are in the path of a tropical system or have recently been impacted by one. Rather than delete these links when the are no longer needed as frequently, they will be moved to another blog page, "The Storms Never End". That blog will be used as a sort of "archive" of information other so that more than just the blog posts can be accessed.

Hurricane preparedness and other important information will be available here on the "Helping Animals Weather the Storm" blog. More in-depth hurricane and weather information will likely be placed on the "The Storms Never End" blog

About This Blog

As an animal rescuer, there are so many ways I could go with this blog. For starters, though, it'll be used to help provide a heads-up regarding tropical weather & info involving evacuation and rescue of animals in relation to tropical weather. I did something similar on a blog for Gustav on WeatherUnderground and hope to expand here for the remainder of the hurricane season.
